Special Child

In the 4K class at Greendale Playschool, a child is chosen each week to be the "Special Child."  They get to bring in their favorite pictures and explain them to the class, get to be the helper all week, answer questions about themselves, and choose the prayer they say before snack time.

They start at the beginning of the year by the teachers randomly choosing a child, and then when that child's week is up, they get to choose the next child by picking a name card that is flipped upside down.  It's all about the luck of the draw and Isaac has been SO patient.  There were only 3 kids left and IZ was FINALLY chosen last week!!  He was so excited.

Here he is talking about his picture board on the first day.  Not sure what happened to our baby....he looks so grown up!

Here he is when his classmates are singing "his" song. (They sing the same song for each kid, but the special child chooses their favorite food and what they look like.)   "Isaac, Isaac, he's so neat. He likes pancakes when he eats. His hair is brown and his eyes are blue. I am his friend and so are you. Isaac, Isaac, he's so neat. He likes pancakes when he eats."

The other students also get to ask the special child questions.  Some are so funny.  "What's your favorite race car?"  "What's your favorite number?"  "What's your favorite person?"  "What's your favorite color?"  "What's your favorite state?"

For some reason, I don't have pictures of his second day, but here's a couple from his last day.  (Yes, he chose his outfit that day. HA!)

Counting his friends:

Talking about his pictures one last time.

I cannot believe that I am registering him for kindergarten this week!  Where has time gone?!
