Little Bully-Part 2

Tonight Caleb was hitting me and Joel told him, "No hitting, Caleb." Caleb looked right at him and sternly said "Punsing." In other words, he wasn't hitting me, he was punching me and that made it okay. Nice, huh? I really need to buy a book about how to get him to stop hitting, biting and pinching. Besides going outside, these are now his favorite things to do. Any suggestions are gladly appreciated:)

Chunky Monkey

Isaac had his 2 month check up on Friday. He weighed 15 pounds, 11 oz and was 24 inches tall. (He gained almost 5 pounds in a month!) That puts him in the 97th percentile for weight and 90th for height. I know I keep writing about the growth chart stats, but when your other baby took over 2 years to get on the darn chart, it's pretty amazing to now have one at the top! In a room of 100 two-month olds, only 3 would be heavier than Isaac! Then I look at my little peanut, Caleb. In a room of 100 two-year olds, more than 97 of them would weigh more than him! Talk about the extremes! His ped continues to assure me that he's not eating too much, especially since he's eating breast milk.
Isaac has a mild case of torticollis. We have to start doing some neck-stretching exercises with him everyday, which he doesn't like very much. Hopefully it won't get to the point where he needs physical therapy. His ped isn't too concerned about it at this point, although his head is starting to get a little flat in one area (which is making me crazy!). No matter how many times I reposition him, he always ends up facing the way he prefers. He might have a touch of the "Teisl stubbornness" that his dad and brother have:)
He's really starting to be a lot of fun. He's never in a bad mood unless he's hungry (or getting his neck stretched). He goes to bed and wakes up "talking" and smiling. He'll "talk" to anything. Us, Caleb, his toys, the wall, himself in a mirror...it's too cute! I swear he already knows how to say "Hi!!" Caleb never "cooed" or "talked" when he was a baby. It's so much fun to have conversations with Isaac. He'll "talk" and then let us respond and then talk again. Even Caleb has joined in the fun a few times. Although most of the time it ends with Caleb hitting him since he doesn't like it when Isaac smiles at him for some reason.
Caleb has been pushing his limits more than ever. He's becoming best friends with the "time-out" chair. He has started to yell "two meenuts!" when we are taking him to sit on it. (He has to sit there for 2 minutes) Joel and I have to try so hard not to laugh at him. Time-outs seem to be working for him because he stops doing the behavior that got him there in the first place. The problem is, he then finds another way to be naughty! He's very jealous of Isaac and does everything he can, good or bad, to get our attention. I am going to sign him up for gymnastics lessons this summer in hopes that he can learn how to follow directions and how to have patience from someone else. He clearly does not want to learn these things from me!

It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood...

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous here the past week (well except for today) and we have been taking full advantage of being outside. Both boys love to go for walks and Caleb loves to just run around the yard. He doesn't care what he's doing, as long as he's outside. Franklin has miles and miles of beautiful paved trails which are really nice to take walks on. Caleb loves the bridges that are over the rivers/creeks along the trail. He definitely loves nature just like his daddy. Isaac will pretty much sleep anywhere, and if he's awake he just looks around and enjoys the change of scenery. We've also made a couple trips to the zoo, which is much more challenging than last year. This year, Caleb does not want to be in the stroller and wants to run everywhere. I often forget that I have a baby in the stroller now and can't just leave it (and Isaac) and chase Caleb around!

Who Knew?!

Who knew that all it would take to get Caleb to eat again was a Little Tykes picnic table?! Why didn't I think of this earlier? We brought it out for Isaac's party so the little kids could sit at it. Caleb has been sitting on it for every meal since and is actually eating again! YIPEEEE! He had his feeding clinic appt last week and he now weighs 24 pounds! He's on the growth chart for his real age now. I have no idea how he gained weight since he's been on an eating strike for 8 weeks. Actually I do know how...his stinking night time bottles that he loves so much. He still gets up at least 4-5 times a night for his bottles (and the team wants him to keep getting them until he eats better during the day). A couple weeks ago he was getting up 8 times in 10 hours! It was getting so bad that his doctor told us to give him melatonin to help him sleep. It didn't help his sleeping much and seemed to give him nightmares so we quit giving it to him. His ped wants him to have a sleep study to see if he has a sleep disorder, but we're not on board with that yet. We are very lucky that Isaac only gets up once at night! He has his 2 month appt this week and it sure will be interesting to see how much he weighs now. Some of his 3-6 month clothes are getting tight. He's consistently polishing off 5-6 oz bottles and drinks about 35-40 oz a day! It's so different having a baby that loves to eat. I am worried his doc is going to tell me that he's eating too much!

Fighting Already....

Caleb wouldn't look at the camera because Isaac was "peensing" (pinching) him!
Isaac looks as though he knows exactly what he's doing, and Caleb's face is priceless!

"How many times do we have to tell you? We DON'T want our picture taken together!!"

8 weeks old...So many women, so little time

It's hard to believe that Isaac is 8 weeks old! We had his baptism this weekend. He had a wonderful day surrounded by our family and friends. Caleb really came out of his shell and was the life of the party! He wasn't shy around anyone and was showing off his new words and dance moves. I will post more pics of Isaac's big day when I get them from my mom. But for now, here he is with all of his girlfriends. There has been a baby boom around here and most of them are little girls. I am sure Isaac will love it when he's older!

Mr Talky Talkerson

Since Caleb has decided that eating isn't for him anymore, his speech development has really taken off. He's now jabbering pretty much all day long, most of which I cannot understand (although HE clearly knows what he's talking about). He's also into repeating the last word of our sentences. It's pretty cute. He was recently tested again by his speech therapist and his expressive language skills are at about the level of an 18 month old. He's 28 months, so he's clearly behind but just 3 months ago he was only at a 12 month old level. He's definitely making progress. Here are the other cute things he's saying/doing lately:

He still calls himself "Haybee" but lately has been shortening it to "Habes" which cracks us up!

Whenever he does something for us (gets something for Isaac, cleans up his toys, or helps us in anyway, etc), he says "daynt do" (thank you) and if we don't tell him thank-you immediately he starts signing thank you until we do. I even saw Caleb telling Isaac to tell him thank you after giving him his pacie....too cute!

Isaac is starting to smile if we say his name to him and smile at him. Caleb will get really close to him and say "I-dit, I-dit" trying to make him smile.

Joel still has a cold and every time he sneezes, even if he's in a different room we'll hear Caleb say "Bet-do" (Bless you)

Whenever I am feeding or changing Isaac and Caleb wants something, I tell him that I will help him when I am done helping Isaac. He always replies "One meenit." (One minute)

Whenever he's running some where, he yells "wunning!"

Whenever he toots, he says "cuse me"

He's very observant when we are driving in the car. He loves to point out every single sign we go past. "Nenno hine" (yellow sign) "Geen hine" (green sign), "Hite hine" (white sign).

His memory is outstanding. Debbie was the nurse that came to our house to give him his RSV shots this season. He never knew her before this and we never talked about her at all. This week he was begging to go outside and I told him that we could after Miss Debbie came. (I didn't mention the shots) He immediately started crying and was screaming "No Debbie, no Debbie" "Debbie owies" I finally got him settled down after about 45 minutes. He immediately cried again when he saw her truck come up the driveway. And now, whenever his pants are off he points where he got the 2 shots and says "Debbie owies."

He had his blood drawn last week and afterwards would point to his arm and day "One pote (one poke) and "owie elbow" (he doesn't know the word antecubital yet!)

Whenever I change his dirty diaper he says "goss" (gross) and plugs his nose.

He's still picky about what he's wearing. If I put a yellow shirt on him he'll say "No nenno. Orange hirt on" If I try to put on his gray shoes, he says "No, hite toos on" (white shoes on) Or "boots on"

He loves to cook me food in his kitchen. He'll bring me what ever he cooked and then bring the salt shaker and say "halt." He thinks everything needs salt!

He continues to love "babit-ball" (basketball) and loves to "hets" (catch) and "hounce" (bounce) the ball

He loves the words "hooge" (huge) and "bubbas" (bubbles)

He asks for Joel every morning and I tell him he's at work. He always replies "Daddy home toon (soon)"

He always asks to go to "grandma house." Sometimes "Grandma house toon"

He calls my mom "Mo" and when he asks for her, I tell him she's in Minnesota. He says "Home toon" Then he says "Papa home toon."

So as you can see he's really doing quite well with his language. It's about time!! I am sure I am forgetting a bunch of new ones, but at least I got some of them down. Since I never started a baby book for him, this blog will at least help me remember some of the cute stuff!

6 Weeks Old and 100% HEALTHY!!

We got Isaac's immune deficiency test results back today and they were NEGATIVE!! Thank you for all your prayers, they have been answered. It's such a relief to know that he's okay. Yes, he's losing his hair on top. His thick, dark hair is being replaced by fine, white hair. Looks like he's going to be a blondie! At least I HOPE all of the dark hair falls out since it will look kinda funny with light hair on top and dark in the back! He's still eating like a little piggy and weighed 13 pounds, 9 oz (with his clothes on) at the doctor yesterday. It will be interesting to see what he really weighs at his 2 month appt in a couple weeks! He still has that darn cold, but it really doesn't seem to bother him too much. He's so laid back!
