Superheroes!

Caleb, Ayden, and Troy

Side note: I've been dreading the day when Caleb becomes interested in superheroes. I have gotten used to the fact that my days will not be spent playing dolls, playing tea party, and doing other "girly" things. And I have gotten pretty good at playing trucks and tractors "correctly" and pitching baseballs. But, I don't know ANYTHING about superheroes. I was never into them. In fact I have never seen a superhero show, including Spiderman! And I am not ready for Caleb to be into them either! That would mean our baby is growing up! (I think I'm still "safe" though, because he hasn't mentioned them since this picture was taken and is back to his tractors, baseballs and basketballs! And he obviously doesn't have a clue who Spiderman is yet, as evidenced by the knight helmet he's wearing with the costume!!)

I think it's safe to say...

..spring is FINALLY here! Even though it rained all weekend (and is supposed to rain a lot this week), we've still had some beautiful days lately! I am so glad that the boys love to be outside. In fact, Isaac has a complete meltdown every single time we go inside. Caleb is SO excited that our daffodils have finally blossomed. Every morning he wakes up and says "Wook at da boo-ti-ful fwowers! Dare yeh-doe momma. Dare daff-o-dils" (look at the beautiful flowers! They're yellow momma! They're daffodils) Every.single.morning.

---------
Caleb was scraming his head off the other night saying that his "head hurt." So the next morning, I kept asking how he felt. The first couple times, he replied, "Good." He must have gotten sick of me asking so he said, "I still fine!!"

Caleb's new obsession is trying to catch a ball that Joel throws high up in the air. He's gotten pretty good at it. Last night, after catching one, I told him good job. He replied, "I so good at pwacticing!" (Practicing)

When we tell him "Thank you," he always says "Your welcome." now.

I called home from work on Saturday and Joel told me that Isaac could say "John Deere." He said it to me on the phone, which cracked me up! It's not clear, but if you know what he's saying, it does actually sound like it! He does have "May!!" down and screams it when he can't find Macy (or when he wants to feed her the peas off of his plate!)

And yes, I know that this song really doesn't fit us, but it's sort of about sunshine and I am LOVING all this sunshine we're having around here!

To cut, or not to cut....

....that is the question. As you may have noticed, Isaac's hair is getting long. Joel has been nagging me to take him in for a haircut. I do agree that it's usually out of control, and a woman at work DID think he was a little girl when I took pictures the other day (he had a red shirt on, but I really don't think he looks like a girl...). However, I love his little curls! And I don't want to have them cut off yet!

"Back" view...

"Stop taking my picture" view...

If we get it cut, he probably won't be able to sport his "perfect" mohawk (courtesy of the 2 cowlicks that make his hair in front go towards the middle..which also contribute to his "swoop" in front when he's not sporting a mohawk!) after his bath anymore...

What do you think? Leave a comment! (You won't hurt my feelings if you think we should cut it!)

Finger Paint!

Okay, so maybe Isaac is a bit too young for finger painting! He just wanted to eat it! (Next time we'll have to use pudding...)

Caleb wouldn't even touch the paint at first. But after watching Isaac for a while, he decided it wasn't so bad.

And after I started taking pics of Isaac and his beard, Caleb wanted a "bee-aad" too!

(Another) Note to self

When trying to unpack from a trip to MN, don't leave the boys unattended with the "hay" from their Easter baskets....

They were having such a great time though, I let them keep playing (and making a huge MESS in every room of our house!)

At least Isaac tried to clean up (Although I am STILL finding it all over the house!)

Busted!

So this is how he "finishes" his food when I leave the room??!!

More Easter Pics

Easter eggs:

I cannot get over how grown up (and SO stinkin' cute) the boys looked in their Easter clothes! Have I ever mentioned how much I love these little men?!

When getting into the car after church on Easter...

Me: Caleb quit being a stinker and get into your car seat.
Caleb: I not stinko. I pick-o head.
Me: Pickle head? Where did you hear that?
Caleb: I made dat up mysewlf.
Me: (cracking up) You made that up yourself?
Caleb: Yes I did. I soooo funny!

Yes, Caleb you ARE funny! Isn't it amazing how much he's talking these days?

"Don't worry Caleb..."

....I'll finish your lunch for you!"

"And I'll recruit Macy to help too!"

After lunch yesterday, I took Isaac out of his highchair and brought his dishes into the kitchen. When I came back, Isaac was sitting at the picnic table eating Caleb's food! He had JUST polished off all of his own food! And yes, he and Macy finished everything on C's plate too!
Now that he's figured out how to sit at the picnic table, he doesn't want to sit in his highchair anymore! The problem is, when they are both sitting there together, Isaac is constantly sealing food off of Caleb's plate! This of course drives Caleb crazy. (Although he won't finish it himself anyway....)

March for Babies

Well, once again I am a slackerita and didn't get my act together for the March of Dimes/March for Babies. The spring that Caleb came home from the NICU, I will admit I didn't even think about doing the walk. We were in survival mode. The next year, I tried to find a local walk to take part in, but for some reason I only found one that was 3 hours away. Last year my friend Cora told me that Milwaukee does indeed have a walk at the lakefront, however I just had Isaac and was way overwhelmed with everything going on at our house. This year, what's my excuse? I am ashamed to say I don't have one. I just didn't get it together I guess.

The money raised during the March for Babies supports programs that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies. And it funds research to find treatments that helps save the lives of many premature babies...treatments used to help save Caleb's life. I have said before that I wouldn't wish prematurity on anyone. I pray that the March of Dimes will continue to make progress with their research, so that one day there won't be any babies born prematurely.

So, I hope that we can make it down to the lakefront this year and support those who are walking. Get ready for next year because we'll be asking you all to help us raise money for this worthy cause. In the mean time, if you'd like to donate in honor of our miracle boy, Caleb, please consider sponsoring one of his preemie buddies (Their mommies, along with others in our preemie group, have provided me with SO much support since we brought Caleb home from the NICU. )

The Big Back Yard

Since our back yard was covered with snow and it was RAINING, we met my friend and her kids at the Big Back Yard on Monday. The boys had a lot of fun. Funny thing is, all they really want to do is play basketball there! I would take them to play on the playgrounds, they'd go down one slide and run back to the basketball hoops. Isaac was even trying to play with the "big boys" by the big hoop. He held is ground when they tried to take his ball from him! Caleb was brave and went on the big playground (after a lot of convincing that he'd be fine!). One time was enough for him though:) Not sure if you can tell, but he was very nervous about going up those stairs!

He's not quite able to pedal the trikes, but he's pretty close! (And yes, he picked out his outfit!)

And then there's Isaac, who has NO FEAR!

And recently Isaac has started "jumping" He is so proud of himself and I think it's so darn adorable!

----------
For memory's sake:

We also went to Target this week. I try to avoid taking both boys with me to the store, but they needed milk, so we had to go. Isaac is usually terrible in the cart and Caleb wants to walk (and touch everything). I like to take my time and browse, which I am not able to do with them (although it's probably better since I spend less money this way!). I usually bribe Caleb and tell him if he's good, he can get an Icee at the end. After I put him in the cart, he told me "No whining, no scweaming, no begging, and no gagging. Den I get a swushie."

Gagging?! That made me laugh. (We've had to tell him that a lot lately while eating...which is not so funny!) He actually was very good this time. As for Isaac, I had to stop by the baby food isle and open a can of Gerber cheetos to get him through the trip! (I think everyone in Target was silently thanking me for doing that!)

We took Isaac to the ped today to have his ears rechecked. As Isaac was screaming, Caleb told him, "It's okay, I. Dr Dan not hurt you." So sweet! Isaac is FINALLY healthy and was able to get his 9 month shots!
