The boys are obsessed with Popsicles right now. They'd eat them for every meal and snack if I'd let them. Here's a conversation I had with Isaac the other day. I will spare you from trying to type the pre-translated version (as in my title), but as you are reading it, think of his lisp (his s's are like "th". It was so funny!
Isaac: This is freezing cold!
Me: Well a Popsicle is ice, so it's supposed to be cold!
Isaac: Burrr! This Popsicle is freezing cold!
Me: Yes, you're right. Mine is cold too.
Isaac: I burning my tongue off! Ouch!
Me: You're burning your tongue off?
Isaac: Yah. My Popsicle freezing cold!
Me: Well slow down then!
Isaac: Blow on my Popsicle mama. It burning my tongue off!

2 year check up
Isaac passed his 2 year check up with flying colors. He's meeting and exceeding all of the expectations for a 2 year old. He's now 30 pounds, 5 oz and 36.5 inches tall. That puts him in the 80th percentile for weight and 85th for height. He's definitely slimming down and losing his baby fat. But he sure can eat (when he's not "too busy" of course!). His ped predicted that he'll be about 5'11"-6' tall when he's done growing! We've gotten the green light to switch to 2% milk, which we will be switching Caleb to as well. (Caleb has a doctor's appt in a few weeks and we'll see where his weight is and may end up switching him back to whole milk again). The next thing we need to tackle with Isaac is potty training. He does very good with it in spurts, especially when there's "B-tarts" involved (sweet tarts). But then he loses interest and refuses to sit on the toilet. We're not going to push it at this point. He got his Hep A shot at the end of his appointment. He didn't cry at all, just looked at the nurse like he was thinking "Why in the heck did you just do that?" He got to pick out a sticker and he said "One for Cay-yub too!" He really adores his big brother!
----------------
I was getting the boys' breakfast ready the other morning and Isaac was taking all of the DVDs out of the cabinet.
Me: Isaac, I just put all of the DVDs back in there and made it nice and neat. Please don't make a mess.
Isaac: I not making a mess.
Me: Then why are you taking all of the DVDs out? It looks like a mess to me!
Isaac: No! I not making a mess. I building a tower. See?

Ahhhh, SPRING!!!!!!

Doesn't he look so grown up?! I should mention that we got over an inch of snow the day after I took this picture. Caleb was so upset when he woke up on Saturday. He kept saying, "But mom! You said Saturday is the first day of Spring! We can't have snow in Spring!" Thankfully the snow only lasted a day and I am hoping that's all we're going to see until next winter!

Simply Beautiful
The weather has been gorgeous the past couple days. Isaac is back to loving going outside, and I am so happy about that! Although he never agrees to go outside when I ask him, he always replies "Not now. In seven minutes!" We took a walk through the woods near our house and the boys had so much fun running down the trial. I had forgotten how nice it is back there. (I am trying not to think about the fact that we are going to get snow this weekend...)
Here are some pics I snapped as they were running around.
High fives:

So precious!

The big bus!!
Caleb had a field trip for school today. We went to the zoo. Thank goodness the weather was BEAUTIFUL!! It was nearly 60 degrees!! (It was so warm that the kids didn't need to wear coats for part of the trip!!) If you ask Caleb what his favorite part was, he'll tell you "The big bus!" It was his first time riding a school bus and he couldn't stop smiling while we were one it. I was also in charge of a little boy named Grady. When I saw his name on my sheet, I got kind of nervous. He's a lot like Caleb with his "business," but he's also naughty, or as one of the other mom's said "He's a pistol!" Some of them were joking about how I got to be the lucky one to be in charge of him. (Maybe the teachers figured if I can handle Caleb, I could handle Grady!) He was actually pretty good, except for the one time he almost fell into the rhino exhibit....

Has anyone seen Isaac?
Isaac is really into Hide and Seek right now.

It's really cute because he thinks "You can't see me if I can't see you!" He also likes to open the cabinets and stand behind the doors (and we can still see his feet and head), and laying on top of all the toys in the toy box (with the lid open). He then announces "Anyone see Isaac?"

How embarrassing
I'm pretty sure Caleb went to school like this today:

Which would be fine if that was a picture of his front...but it's not!

How embarrassing! We are really working on self dressing, and since he's a skinny-minny, he can pull his jeans on without having to button/zip them. However, he usually whines/cries when trying to get himself dressed and I end up helping him (and can correct his habit of putting everything on backwards). Today for some reason, he got dressed all by himself without any issues. And I didn't even think about checking his pants. Sure there have been plenty of times when we were at the library or out shopping and I noticed that his athletic pants were on backwards and his undies are ALWAYS on backwards. But JEANS??
I didn't even notice they were on backwards until late this afternoon. I wonder if his teachers did....

Zoo trip!!
Wow! I'm on a blogging roll! It hit 35 degrees this week, so off to the zoo we went! My friend was teasing me because last year, I'd call her and ask if it was warm enough to go to the zoo when it was 50 degrees. This year, I couldn't wait for it to be above 30 degrees and didn't think twice about taking them when it finally was!
We weren't there too long, but it was enough for them to get some much needed fresh air. Other than Isaac's complete meltdown because I wouldn't carry him (and he wouldn't sit in the stroller..and also the reason he's sporting his pacie in one of the pics), we had a great time. Once again, I can't wait until it's *really* warm enough to go there!

California Dreamin
Caleb's class had "Summer Day" last week and it happened to be the day I signed up to help. They were all so excited to wear their summer clothes to school in the middle of winter. Caleb announced to his teachers "You better crank up the heat so we not cold!"
I was stationed in the "beach room" where they had a sand table (with brand new sand so Caleb could play), a swimming pool (without water), a beach chair (to read books) and sand buckets (to work on sorting.) It was fun seeing him "play" at times with his peers. He still flits from thing to thing during free play, so I didn't get to watch what he was doing the entire time....or take too many pictures:) All the kids seemed to have a great time. And it made me hate the cold even more!
Reading on the beach chair:

Swimming in the pool with Bryn and Ryan and playing at the sand table:

He also got to make his own "ocean" in a pop bottle. He got to pick out fish and shells and glitter to put in the blue water. This is the latest thing that he has to drag to bed with him. Isaac was so jealous of it that we had to make him one too (although his is just blue water in a Gatorade bottle...he doesn't seem to know the difference!)

Music Men
Disclaimer: This is mainly for memory's sake, since I am really lousy at remembering to use our regular video camera. It's so much more convenient to use the regular camera. But, it takes up so much memory space that I usually end up deleting them before I get them onto the computer. When I was downloading pics the other night, I found these videos. Feel free to watch it, but it's pretty long!

Pay back
Last Friday night while I was vacuuming, Caleb took one of the attachment tubes and was messing around with it. He ended up swinging it like a bat and nailing Isaac in the mouth. (He obviously didn't try to do it, but it's just another example of him not thinking about consequences before doing something.) He hit him so hard that IZ's top tooth was loose. He's a toughie though and barely cried. All he cared about was getting a Popsicle! And yes, I forgot to get a picture of his fat lip.
Fast forward to Sunday night, Joel and the boys were wrestling and Caleb was laying on the couch. Isaac jumped on top of him, and landed with his mouth open right on Caleb's mouth. His razor teeth punctured Caleb's lip/skin like a little vampire. At first I thought he just scraped him, but after looking closer at C's mouth, it looked like Isaac bit him. Which I know didn't happen, but I wouldn't put it past him either. Today he bit me through my jeans and my leg was bleeding....) It was bleeding pretty bad for a while and he's VERY dramatic and we all thought the world was coming to an end. Something like this would only happen to Caleb!
Here are a couple pics from the next day. It's hard to tell in the pictures, but his lip was very swollen. It's looking better today, but it's still puffy and looks really sore. (He obviously wasn't into me taking his picture!)

Another party
Isaac had his last 2nd birthday party on Saturday. He was kind of overwhelmed since there were a lot of people/kids that he doesn't see that often. (I didn't take too many pictures because he was pretty cranky.) I think he still had a good time though, especially since it was his "Buzz party" and he got a lot of new Buzz stuff. One of his favorite gifts was a Buzz Lightyear backpack. He wore it to Caleb's preschool on Monday and made sure he showed both teachers. He walked up to them and said "Wook at my backpack!" Of course they made a huge deal about it, which he loved. He walked out looking so proud of himself. I still cannot believe that he's 2!! (And he's had 3 parties to drill it into my head!!)

Am I dreaming?
This morning as I was making the boys breakfast, Caleb yelled to me "Mom! Is our wunch (lunch) done yet? We're starving in here!"
I never ever thought I'd hear Caleb say that he's starving! He has actually been eating really good since Sunday. He's been eating most of what I put on his plate and even better, he's not taking an hour to do so. I am hoping this trend continues! YEAH CALEB!!!!
