Halloween-a-palooza

It's finally Halloween! We have never celebrated this holiday as much as we did this year. We started off last Friday night with Boo at the Zoo. I think everyone in Milwaukee County decided to attend so it was CROWDED. My patience was tested as we waited a HOUR to ride the darn night train...a wait that is usually 5 minutes at the most. The boys had a blast though and that's what counts, right?!

On Thursday, we met Katie, Owen and Sam at the Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Betty Brinn Museum. Again, CROWDED! But, they have added a ton of new things to do since we were there last and the boys didn't want to leave when it was time to go. It will be so much more fun when we go back next time. We usually have most of the museum to ourselves when we go in the AM! I should mention that a woman pretty much accused me of stealing the UPS logo and gluing it on Caleb's costume. She was interrogating me and would not believe that I bought the costume at a store! She kept saying "UPS doesn't just give out their logo like that. They are pretty tight with their brand." I should have told her that she blew my cover and that I did indeed beat up our UPS man so I could cut his logo off his uniform and glue it on a brown outfit for Caleb. And I won't even go into the story about the drunk/high woman (with her kids) sitting across from us at the craft station....unbelievable!

Friday, Caleb had his Halloween party at school and of course his mini-me had to dress up too!

And last night, we went to the Herda's annual Halloween party. Their subdivision shuts down the streets and it's one giant party. Caleb was really into trick or treating this year. He went up to the houses with his friends, without us. Isaac wanted no part in it. He sat in the stroller and fussed until I took him back to their house 20 minutes later. Caleb stayed out almost 2 hours!

And today is Halloween and we didn't do anything (except go to church and have a Packer Party at Grammie's and Grandpa's.) We could have gone trick or treating in our neighboorhood, but the boys already have enough candy to last them until next year....

Happy Halloween!

(When I posted this, I thought it WAS Halloween because we had just gotten back from trick or treating and having a great Halloween party with our friends!)

The Great Pumpkin(s)

There's been a minor obsession with pumpkins around our house the past few weeks! Each time we left the house, Caleb insisted that we take pictures with them. (I won't bore you with all of them, but here's a couple. Please ignore the pacie that still remains in our TWO AND A HALF year old...)

We finally carved them on Sunday. Caleb was so excited to do it. Isaac, not so much. (If we'd take him to therapy, I am almost certain that he'd have some sort of sensory disorder too. He HATES to be dirty!) Caleb jumped right in and took out all the "guts." He picked a "mad" face and had a blast helping carve it. Isaac cried most of the time because "I don't wike pumpkins!" He threw a bigger tantrum when I told him I wanted to take his picture with it. According to him, pumpkins are "too dirty and stinky."

I think they turned out pretty cute. The past couple days we've had 60+ mph winds..not great pumpkin lighting weather. Hopefully they'll last until Halloween!

"I have a girlfriend"

This is what Caleb told me nonchalantly today as we were playing soccer. He has NEVER told me about any friends, so I nearly fell over when he said this. Normally when I ask him who he played with at school he either says, "everyone" or "I'll tell you later." When I asked him who it was he whispered, "Abby G." (He has 3 Abby's in his class this year!) I know who Abby G. is and think she seems like a little "mother"...always making sure everyone is in the right place, listening, etc. So I think it's funny that she is his girlfriend. (He doesn't like to be bossed around.) When Joel asked him about school today, the first thing he said to him was "I have a girlfriend!" Too funny.

And today when we were leaving school, two different kids yelled "Bye Caleb!" and he SAID BYE TO THEM!!! (This may not seem like a big deal to most people, but Caleb usually doesn't respond to anyone outside his comfort zone.) So maybe he is finally breaking out of "Caleb's world," and is aware of things like friendships and playing with other kids. YAHOOOOO! I am just thrilled that he has friends!

Pajama Day

Caleb had pajama day at school last week. He wasn't sure if he really wanted to wear them, but after convincing him that everyone would be wearing theirs, he decided it would be okay. But only if "I can put my real clothes on right when I get home."

It was kind of hard to pick what he should wear since he doesn't really have any jammies...they've all been donated to Isaac. He hates them; they're too scratchy, too itchy, too tight, too loose, too staticky, the list could go on. So, we usually make him wear at least a t-shirt and sweat pants, both of which he ditches at some point during the night and ends up in just his undies. (Which is so ironic, because he can't for the life of himself get his shirts off by himself while he's awake...)We went shopping to look for a new pair, but he wasn't impressed with any of the options. So he wore his "I love John Deere" PJ pants and a t-shirt. Isaac has no issues with wearing jammies and of course he had to wear his too that day. (Once again C is sporting his fake/cheesy smile.)

Caleb wouldn't let me take any pictures of him at school, but Isaac was all for it.

And then I had to break the news to him that just because he wore his jammies, it didn't mean that he could stay at preschool that day. His sad face almost made me cry. He was devastated. I had to carry him out of there kicking and screaming. He is SO ready for preschool!

Pumpkin farm 2010

As I mentioned before, the weather was absolutely gorgeous when we went to pick out pumpkins this year. The boys were actually able to spend some time looking around and checking out all of the cool things they have there. The last couple of years it was more like 'pick your pumpkin quick and lets get out of here' type of a deal. We like this place because the pumpkins are already picked and are clean and there's not a lot of things on Caleb's "can't do" list there, so he doesn't feel left out.

Of course we had to get the traditional big pumpkin, sitting by the pumpkin pile, and big yellow chair pictures:

And this year they got to go on a "train" ride (a tractor pulled their cars). We thought Isaac would freak for sure when he lost sight of us, but he was all smiles when we saw him again 5 minutes later!

And normally they don't want me to take pictures of them, but they both wanted a picture with the orange Case tractor. (Are you loving Caleb's new fake, exhibited in smile in most of these pictures, as much as I do?!)

It was a great day. I am just loving fall this year. The weather has been so warm and the trees are just beautiful right now. Definitely not looking forward to winter!!

Flashback Friday

We went to the pumpkin farm last weekend. The weather was BEAUTIFUL! The boys were wearing shorts and t-shirts, which is usually unheard of in October! I was looking back to see how there were dressed for our previous trips. The pics are too cute not to share again. (And yes, C was wearing the same coat both years....)

"You such a big boy Cay-yub!"

Today as I was taking a shower, Caleb came in and said he had to "take a poop." (We do not let him wipe himself yet because 1). The last time he tried, there was poop everywhere and 2). We need to make sure his little crack is clean, clean, clean! So when he was done, I told him he'd had to wait until I was out of the shower. Of course I had just gotten in and was hoping for some peace and quiet for 5 minutes!

He was getting impatient, so I told him to try and wipe himself, instructing him to hold up his shirt so it wouldn't get dirty, to be careful and not get poop on his hands or on his legs like last time. As he's doing this, Isaac came into the bathroom and saw what Caleb is doing. He yelled "Oh my gosh Cay-yub! You wiping yourself?! Wow! You such a big boy Cay-yub!!!!!!!!!" He was SO excited for his big brother! He even did a little "happy dance" for him! So stinking cute!

I have to say that C did a pretty good job! I realize he's going to have to learn this task sooner then later since he won't have coddling-I-have-no-problem-wiping-your-butt teachers forever!

Oh my!

As we are playing outside today Isaac yelled "I gotta go poop! And I gonna poop outside today." I told him that he was NOT going poop outside. He looked up at me with his innocent baby blues and said, "But Macy poops outside!"
