Pants (and shorts)
Isaac seems to be growing again. Most of his pants are too short, or "too tight" as he's been telling me. (He may be a LITTLE dramatic like his brother though...) It will be interesting to see how much he weighs now. Caleb has so many pairs of pants (probably because he's been in the same size forever) so I took a size 2T pair out of his drawer and put them on Isaac today. It's a little depressing that they fit him better than they fit Caleb (they don't have an adjustable waist in them). And even more depressing is that I put a pair of 12-18 month shorts on Caleb the other day to see if they still fit. And.they.do. He told me that he's not going to wear them though because they are "baby shorts." I wanted to tell him that he should start eating better then! Although now that nearly all pants/shorts have an adjustable waistband, he won't have to wear "baby shorts" this summer. Boy do I love that invention!
Excuses
This is how my morning went with Isaac:
Me: Isaac, I need to change your diaper.
Isaac: I can't.
Me: Why not?
Isaac: I too busy.
---------
Me: Isaac, can you go and get me the clothes that are laying on the floor in your room?
Isaac: I can't.
Me: Why not?
Isaac: I pooping.
--------
Me: Isaac, did you poop?
Isaac: Yah.
Me: Well then I need to change you again.
Isaac: I can't.
Me: Why not?
Isaac: I paying. (playing)
---------
Me: Isaac, it's time to eat breakfast.
Isaac: I can't.
Me: Why can't you eat?
Isaac: A-cause. Don't want to.

"Happy Birthdy to ME!"
That's what Isaac continues to say. I really think that he thinks it's still his birthday! We celebrated "The Babies" 2nd birthday on Saturday. Caitlin turned 2 in November (and sadly was sick for the party) and Sydney, Isaac and Mallory were born within 2 weeks of each other in February. It's so much fun to see them grow up together. The girls will definitely help keep IZ in line when they are older!
Isaac and Mallory:

"Let me make sure my number is in your phone":

What a little charmer!

The birthday babes (Isaac is no longer 80 times bigger than the girls!)

Group shot (missing 3 kiddos from the crew)

I think everyone had a great time! I love it when we have an "excuse" to get everyone together! I just wish we could do it more often!

Just call me Betty
I saw a really cool rainbow cake online and wanted to try making it since I was in charge of the cake for "The Babies" party. Joel had little faith that it would actually turn out and made fun of me throughout the process. It took me most of the day on Friday to make it since there were so many steps. While I might not quite be up to Ms Crocker's standards, I think it turned out pretty well. (I doubt I will ever make it again, but I now know that my layers need to be a bit more even so the outside frosting will look better. And it turned out much taller than I had expected, so my cake cover thing wouldn't fit over it. I had to sit with it on my lap, totally unprotected, on the way to the party...I cringed with every bump we hit and prayed that it wouldn't fall off the plate and onto my lap!)

The frosting on the bottom and the "2" was orange, but for some reason, my camera made it look pink. And Caleb helped me make the "dots" (blue, green, purple, pink and yellow) and he told me they looked "perfect."

The birthday girls weren't sure what to think of the giant cake:

Isaac was just happy that we were singing Happy Birthday and that he got to "Blow candles off."

I was actually nervous to cut it because I had no idea what the layers would look like. But, I was pleasantly surprised! And it tasted good too! It was a hit!

Happy Birthday Little Man!
It's still hard to believe that our baby is two years old today! He's been so excited about his birthday. It's amazing to me that he actually gets it. He's been singing Happy Birthday to himself for weeks and cannot stop talking about the Buzz party he's going to have. He woke up early, so we decided to let him open one present before Joel went to work. Caleb wanted to give him his present, and as he handed it to him he said "It's a Woody IZ!" He was equally excited to give it to him.

We also did our yearly "Daddy's shirt" pictures. Luckily the first one turned out, because the rest look like the second one here:)

Caleb had preschool today and Isaac told everyone he saw about his party, blowing out candles and that he's five (years old). It was pretty funny. His birthday is going to be strung out for almost 2 weeks as we have "The Babies" birthday party on Saturday, and then our family party for him the following Saturday. We just had a little "party" for him tonight. He was so excited for us to sing Happy Birthday and then blow out his candles, but he did NOT want to touch his cupcake. (This kid does NOT like to be messy. He freaks out if his hands are dirty. Maybe by his last party, he'll actually enjoy eating his cake. He loves chocolate, so I know that wasn't the issue...)

His big brother also was not impressed with his cupcake, but he at least enjoyed making a mess out of it:)

Caleb also picked out a Prince Fielder shirt for Isaac, and he quickly ran to get his Ryan Braun shirt to wear after Isaac opened it. I have a feeling we're going to be playing A LOT of baseball this summer!

I cannot imagine our lives without Isaac and it's crazy to think that WE didn't plan on having him. I am so glad that God had different plans for us and I thank Him everyday for blessing us with this beautiful little man. Happy Birthday Sweet Baby! I love you!

Overheard
While eating lunch:
Caleb: I don't like you Isaac.
Isaac: Yes you do.
Caleb: No. I don't like you.
Isaac: Yep. You like Isaac.
Caleb: I don't like you Isaac.

Is is spring yet??
I know I shouldn't complain since the majority of you have gotten way more snow than we have this year, but I am tired of winter. (And yes, I know I should get over it...we DO live in Wisconsin....and I grew up in Minnesota!!) Just when I thought it was getting warmer, we got 12 inches dumped on us Monday night/Tuesday and it's back to being freezing cold. UGHHH! Caleb LOVES playing in the snow. Isaac, not so much. (He does like to be pulled in the sled sometimes though.) So it's really hard to go outside when you have one child who wants to stay outside for hours and one who wants to go inside within seconds. Caleb did spend over an hour outside with Joel the other night while he was trying to blow the snow off our driveway. I was so nervous that he'd have frostbite on his little cheeks since it was so cold out. He makes more work for Joel because scoops the snow with his shovel and throws it back on the driveway. Oh well, he sure has fun doing it! I overheard him tell his grandma that he made "a perfect snow angel." Too cute!
They are both getting stir crazy and are getting tired of playing with their toys. (They are definitely not lacking in that dept though!) Isaac is starting to get naughty and will go up to Caleb and take away whatever he is playing with, or punch him for no reason. Caleb, of course, does not take this lightly and quickly spins into a unending tantrum. (And Isaac runs away laughing....)
Caleb had a terrible day at school on Monday. It probably didn't help that he wasn't sleeping until nearly midnight that morning and then was up before 6AM. Like I have said before, his teachers never have anything negative to say about him (And are highly tolderant of his busyness and quirky behaviors). But on Monday, one of them told me he was "easily agitated" and had a terrible time staying on task and sitting still during circle time. He must have been horrible because I asked them if he was better today and their reply was "He was a completely different child today. He was 100, no, 400 times better than Monday." Maybe it was because he actually slept pretty good last night. He was sleeping by 9PM, up from 2-2:15, and then slept until 7:45.
Isaac still hates to leave C's preschool, but he's now realizing how cool it is to be alone with me. He always asks me, "We go shopping?" He loves to shop! He had a huge meltdown today when I told him we were going home. He replied "Not go home! Go shopping!" Love it! (well, not the tantrum part!)
We are still in the process of deciding what to do about our house. We have not put it on the market yet because we cannot find a house we want to buy. We have shifted our plan now and will likely build a new house if we decide to move. We met with a builder last week and he's going to come up with the floor plan "of our dreams." (We'll see about that!) This is probably why Caleb now wants to be a "real live house builder" when he grows up:)
Anyway, not much of an update I know. But like I said, we really haven't been up to anything exciting!

Another argument
On the way to preschool this morning:
Caleb: I am going to be a real live house builder when I grow up.
Isaac: I be air-pane dyber (airplane driver) I grow up.
Caleb: It's not called airplane driver. You should say you want to be a pilot.
Isaac: No, I be air-pane dyber.
Caleb: But it's CALLED a pilot.
Me: Caleb, he can call it an airplane driver if he wants.
Caleb: But just remember that it really called a pilot, Isaac.

Happy 5th Birthday Macy!
We had a birthday party to go to on Macy's birthday, but Caleb has been obsessed with having a party for her. We promised him that we'd have a party for her when we got home from Kenny's party. We got home later than we had planned, so we threw together a quick "party" right before the boys went to bed. They were so excited to sing and help her blow her candle out. It's hard to believe that our first baby is 5 years old (And this also means that our 2nd baby will be 5 soon....)

Jump Around
Caleb has a new skill! He can sort of jump on one foot! As you can see, it's still only one jump at a time, but hey, it's progress! I am just thrilled that he's even interested in trying this. Now that he's sort of figured it out, this is how he gets from place to place more often than not. Of course his Mini-Me has to join in as well. (Please ignore the fact that C's pants are on backwards....we are working on self dressing. Oh, and the fact that size 24 months are still baggy on him. One issue at a time, right?!)
