The Hungry Little Catter-pickle

Caleb's home-bound teacher was really into gardening and caterpillars. She brought a couple of Monarch butterfly eggs and caterpillars to show the boys a while ago. Of course the boys asked if they could have a "catter-pickle."She gave them each one and told us how to take care of them. Who knew that Monarch caterpillars only eat milk week?! I remember finding caterpillars as a child and we would put them in a glass jar with grass!
Of course we didn't have any milk week in our yard/neighborhood, but we did find some at Scout Lake Park! Not sure if it was legal to take some, but we did. :)
Here's a picture of one of them in the beginning. I forgot to take a picture when she first gave them to us...they were much smaller, almost hard to see on the leaf.

One day when we were giving them more leaves, we noticed that we had 3 new additions! They must have been on the leaves from Scout Lake Park!

Here's a series of pictures I took as they got bigger. It was AMAZING how much they ate as they got bigger! And how fast they grew!

One of the chrysalis!

They were SO excited when each of them came out of their chrysalis!  They liked that they had "suction cups" on their "feet" and liked to hang onto their hands. So fun!
