Finally in Houston!

(From Caringbridge, plus pictures...)

We finally made it here yesterday evening. For two little boys who hate to ride in the car, they were both little rock stars on the road. (It helped that we had an entire electronics department in the back seat and my mom was at their beckon call whenever they wanted something.)

We spent the entire day today at Texas Children's Hospital. Again, the boys were SO good. I am so proud of them both. We met our nurse practitioner, child life specialist, and social worker in the clinic and both boys had their blood drawn. I think Caleb met or exceeded the limit of blood that can be taken from a little guy...I think they took at least 10 large viles! Caleb also had a chest CT and xray.

The boys have been going stir crazy between sitting in the car, the hospital and the hotel. They are so used to being outside all day, everyday so this has been a huge adjustment for them. They are really missing playing baseball. We got a nerf basketball hoop this evening and they had fun having a baseball/basketball/jumping on the bed tournament in the bedroom. We also tried to play baseball at the park tonight but that ended quickly after an attack from biting red ants.

Caleb didn't have a fever all day, but has one again tonight. He also developed a terrible cough yesterday. His wonderful doctor emailed me tonight and assured me that Caleb's labs indicate a virus (which is good) and his swabs came back negative for the flu and RSV (also great news.) Some other viral tests taken today should be back tomorrow. So it's a waiting game now to see if this will put things on hold or not.

Tomorrow will be another full day at the hospital. Caleb will meet with his new pulmonologist, dietitian (he only weighed 31 pounds, 2 oz today....boo!), and have an echocardiogram and EKG. My mom and Isaac will bond at the hotel. He's having a lot of separation anxiety and his tantrums have been at their finest when I'm out of his sight. My mom is doing a good job keeping him busy though.

My mom's Ipad has pretty much saved my life. It doesn't need the internet to play the games and the boys LOVE to play it. I might need to arm wrestle my mom to see if she has to leave it here when she goes back to MN!!

Posing for a picture while waiting to been seen.

Caleb "won" a cheap styrofoam airplane after doing his chest CT. It actually worked pretty well (until it broke) and kept him entertained in the hallway while we waited for his xray.
