What did you have for supper?

Caleb had ketchup. Doesn't that sound delicious? Actually, he ate a whole bowl of pureed beef stew (doesn't that sound even better?!) But then proceeded to vomit up everything he ate.
Side note: Caleb's vomiting is part of his "behavioral feeding issues." If he doesn't like the taste of something or thinks he's done eating, he'll make himself throw up. He thinks it's easier to vomit rather than spit the food out. He use to do this every single time we fed him with a spoon, lately it's been more like 4-5 times a week. According to his "feeding plan" if he vomits when we're feeding him, he has to take at least one more bite of food before he can get out of his high chair. Sometimes this takes a minute, sometimes it takes 20. Puking doesn't faze him at all. (Sometimes he'll eat a whole meal right after vomiting.) At the feeding clinic I was told that when he vomits, to not make a big deal about it and to only clean him up enough so that the puke isn't in the way of him eating more. Then we proceed with giving him another bite of something. I felt horrible about doing this at first, but then I realized that the kid would never eat any food if we "let" him get away with throwing up. If he only takes one bite, we get him out of his high chair and immediately give him a bottle.
So anyway, back to the Ketchup. After he threw up, he knew he had to eat more. Tonight he saw the ketchup bottle on the table and was signing "more" and reaching for it. So, I put some on a plate for him. This wasn't good enough because he also wanted my fork. After he had everything he needed, he fed himself over a tablespoon of the red goop. In between his ketchup bites, I was able to sneak in some pureed pears, so at least he got some vitamins. As you can see, even though we are making progress with his eating, it's far from easy.

When Charlie was that age he needed ketchup on everything and to this day needs it to try something new. He would eat the ketchup off what ever it was covering just so he could have more. At least it gets the food in!
