It was a billion degrees on Friday, so I took the boys to the new pool. It's so nice and they had a ton of fun! Although Isaac definitely has NO fear when it comes to pools.

My hometown, Blue Earth (population, about 5,000) is home to the 60 foot tall Green Giant. Here's a picture of Caleb standing by it. He wanted to give it a high five...I told him to start working on his vertical!
It happened to be "Giant Days," their festival that weekend. Friday night they had a party at the Green Giant. They had all sorts of activities and contests as well as a DJ playing music. Caleb entered the "Twist" contest. I couldn't believe he wanted to do it since there were A LOT of kids "twisting". Here's a little video of "round one."Here's one of the last rounds. You can tell he's getting tired of it, but he ended up getting 3rd place!
On Saturday, the local businesses on Main Street had "sidewalk sales" and fun activities for the kids. I wish I would have brought my camera because they both won a bunch of prizes and had so much fun "winning" the games. We also went to watch the 5 and 10K races and check out the car show. It was HOT, but the boys once again had a blast. That afternoon they had a parade. Caleb and Isaac have never been to a parade before. They were in awe of the "real" fire trucks and ambulances and of course the huge John Deere tractors! At first they didn't know what to think about being able to run into the street and get candy. Isaac soon learned that the more he waved, the more candy was thrown at him. He was ready to wrestle anyone who got in his way! They both ended up with a big bag full of candy. Before this, neither of them have ever really been into candy. That has since changed and they are obsessed with it now:)

And of course no trip to Blue Earth is complete without a trip to the John Deere store! Caleb would stay there all day if we'd let him!
The boys didn't want to leave on Sunday. I sure wish we lived closer!

That is so awesome!! No wonder they didn't want to come home...Blue Earth sounds like a blast!!! Glad you had such a nice trip!
Sounds like you guys had fun. It is too bad that you live so far from family, but it will make the times that you make it home extra special and memorable.
If the boys ever want to see and sit in a real fire truck. Let us know. Jim could give them the VIP tour. Can you believe our NICU boys are going to be 5 this year? :o)
