On Sunday morning, we got up packed a picnic lunch and headed to the Houston Zoo. We got there around 10 AM and it was already in the 80's. The zoo was beautiful, but the boys were not impressed. They were having an Earth Day celebration, complete with a "scavenger hunt." Caleb saw a tent where you could spin a big wheel and try to win a prize. One of the workers told him that he had to complete the scavenger hunt first and then he could spin it, which we later learned was not true. So of course the ENTIRE time we were walking around, Caleb kept asking when he could spin the darn wheel. And since Isaac has to have every emotion that C does, he was crabby, crabby, crabby too. We were practically running through the zoo, just to finish it, and neither of them were one bit interested in any of the animals. (The ones we did see seemed so much bigger than the ones at the Milwaukee Zoo.) Anyway, since no one was having any fun, we decided to go back to the tent and let Caleb spin the wheel
so he would stop whining about it.
When we got back to the tent, they had put the wheel away and had run out of prizes. He was devastated of course, so I asked them if they'd just let him spin the stinking thing. The sweet girls must have heard my Northern accent and maybe saw the look of despair on my face and said "Of course!" They even found some Silly Bandz and gave them to the boys. So nice of them. But, then the boys didn't want to go back and check out the animals. Boo!
And just so you know, I am sure these smiles were a result of some type of bribery!
